Join the Historic Indian Agency House as we step back two centuries in time for some exciting activities at the Columbia County Fair! Starting at 2:00 on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, kids under 12 are welcomed to visit our booth in the Bidwell Building for fun 15 minute experiences:
--Thursday 7/25: How do you think early pioneers made their butter? Stop in today and learn how to make your very own butter! The Historic Indian Agency House will bring along an old time Butter Churn to show you what early settlers in Portage used in their butter making.
--Friday 7/26: Ever wonder what it was like to be a soldier 200 years ago? Come to our booth and find out! Hold a real military artifact like those used by the soldiers of Portage's Fort Winnebago and learn how to march from a retired drill sergeant!
--Saturday 7/27: This year's fair hosts a lot of entertaining things to do, but have you ever wondered how people in Portage's early days had fun? Join us in playing the Ho-Chunk Native American moccasin game to experience one unique historic pastime! See a real Native American beaded moccasin on display, too.
