SUMMARY:Columbia County Flood Risk Informational Open House
DESCRIPTION:Representatives from the DNR and FEMA will be hosting this Open House at the Portage Public Library beginning at 6pm.\n\n\n\nThis Open House will provide the public with an opportunity to review a recently completed preliminary Flood Insurance Study and its accompanying preliminary Flood Insurance Rate Maps that include base flood information and area subject to significant flood hazards within the county.\n\n\n\nThere will not be a presentation\, just the opportunity to review the maps.  Once the maps become effective they will be used by floodplain permit officials\, builders and developers\, lenders\, realtors\, insurance agents and the general public to determine flood risk\, develop mitigation measures and encourage wise and responsible risk management decision-making.
