DESCRIPTION:The Portage Area Chamber of Commerce is offering another way to network with your fellow Chamber members and make those important connections that can help you in your business or career. Bring your business cards\, brochures\, or anything you wish to share with other members.\n\n\n\nLuncheon Information\n\nShelley Drescher\, who works with 28 schools districts as CESA 5 learning coordinator\, will be presenting information to us on their apprenticeship program. Shelley\, who has been with CESA 5 for the past 23 years\, will relay how you and your business can get involved and benefit from having an apprentice at your location. \n\n\n\nWisconsin's Youth Apprenticeship (YA) program is a part of a statewide initiative. CESA 5 coordinates the Youth Apprenticeship program for 20 high schools. It is designed for high school students who want hands on learning in an occupational area at a work site along with classroom instruction.\n\n \n\nYouth Apprenticeship (YA) integrates school-based and work-based learning to instruct students in employability and occupational skills defined by Wisconsin industries. Local programs provide training based on statewide youth apprenticeship curriculum guidelines\, endorsed by business and industry. Students are instructed by qualified teachers and skilled worksite mentors. Students are simultaneously enrolled in academic classes to meet high school graduation requirements\, in a youth apprenticeship related instruction class\, and are employed by a participating employer under the supervision of a skilled mentor.\n\n \n\n              Junior or Senior year in High School\n\n              One or two-year program\n\n              450 hours of paid work experience per year\n\n              2 semesters (180 hours) of related classroom instruction per year\n\n\n\n\n\nWhere: The Ball Room\, 112 East Cook Street\n\nTime:  Lunch at 11:30AM\, Presentation at Noon\n\nCost:  Pay for your lunch at the restaurant\n\nDate: Tuesday\, June 6
