DESCRIPTION:Agency House Opening Celebration: Ho-Chunk Dance Troupe and Drum Group Cultural Demonstration & Pie SocialClick here for a poster on the event. A celebration\, to be held on the grounds of the Historic Indian Agency House\, is planned to mark the opening of the 2010 season at both this site and its sister site\, Fort Winnebago Surgeons' Quarters\, both of Portage\, Wisconsin. The event will take place May 16th at 2PM\, featuring a cultural demonstration by Ho-Chunk youth groups\, Wasira Dance Troupe and United Clans Drum Group. The talented members of these groups\, ages K-12th grade\, aim to spread awareness of their Native American heritage through song and dance. A pie and dessert social will follow the demonstration\, made possible by generous local businesses and other volunteers. Bring your folding chair or a blanket and settle in for some family fun! The event is free to the public\, with donations benefiting the continued operation of the Agency House gladly accepted. Plan to attend and help this landmark celebrate its 78th year of sharing Wisconsin's vibrant early history. Call 608-742-6362 with any questions.
